So the news on this day in 1945 started with the announcement from Admiral Halsey that the 3rd Fleet was on it's way into San Francisco Harbor and heading towards Golden Gate Bridge on it's next to last destination before being decommissioned. The slow process of dismantling the war machine was taking place and now the flood of returning service personnel was starting.

This broadcast, from various vantage points around San Francisco Bay, takes place on the morning of October 15th 1945 and ends up with other news of the day.

Again, that slow transition from war to peace. Something else that doesn't happen overnight.
