(The Posies in 1990 - Indie to Major and back again)
The Posies are a Seattle/Bellingham Washington band, who got started in 1987 and quickly grabbed the attention of a lot of major labels. By 1989 they were signed to Geffen and by 1990 had their first major label album Dear 23 released to good reviews and a hit single (Golden Blunders). But they weren't able to duplicate their initial success and spent the next six years touring, writing and recording albums that didn't meet the expectations of a major label.
By 1996 Geffen lost interest and they pretty much called it a day to focus on solo projects, but in 1997 they came back together and resumed their career as an Indie band with numerous personnel changes.
In various shapes and forms they are still together and still recording with a new album coming out this coming September on Rykodisc.
But tonight I thought I would play one of the tracks off Dear 23, Suddenly Mary which was issued as a single but didn't get any airplay to speak of, even though it's a great song.
