Taking a breather from our Pop Extravaganza of last week (although judging from the positive response it may be coming back shortly) and diving into some BBC Sessions again. This time from Post-Punk/Experimental band The Monochrome Set who didn't create a stir over here but were well enjoyed in the UK and Europe in the late 70's and early 80's. An inventive band that took full advantage of their experimental nature along with some wonderfully evocative lyrics, the Monochrome Set have reunited as of 2011 and are currently recording a new album, which will be available around April and will be doing a small getting-our-feet-wet tour to coincide with the release.
Tonight it's their first session for the BBC and the John Peel Program. Recorded on February 14, 1979, the four tracks they recorded are as follows:
1. Espresso
2. Ici les Enfants/Fat Fun
3.Love Goes Down The Drain
4. Noise
Noise, as you may have noticed, was later re-worked to become Eine Symphonie des Grauens, another in a long list of classic tracks from this band.
With any luck they may come to the States. In the meantime, check out their site and get on their mailing list for updates. Their album will be available via their site so you may want to check it out and give some support.
Count me in.
