Early Psychedelia tonight in the form of John's Children. The name might not ring any bell's on its own, until you remind people that Marc Bolan, who would eventually turn the pop music world upside down with T. Rex, was actually a member of the band - even though he was a member a little over three months.
But those three months were pivotal in the success and notoriety the band achieved in a comparatively short period of time. The track tonight, Smashed Blocked began life under the title "The Love I Thought I Found", until it was revamped and reworked by the group's producer and guiding light Simon Napier-Bell into a huge, but perplexing piece of musical wizardry.
John's Children didn't actually last all that long. Some say it was 1967 and others say 1968. Either way, it was a short lived band that put out some admittedly weird singles and were enveloped in a mystique that may have been more hype than actual talent. But still nonetheless managed to blow a few minds along the way.
