Freddie Hubbard - coinciding with the release of his latest album, aptly named High Energy.

Checking out some live Jazz/Funk this weekend, compliments of Freddie Hubbard and Les McCann recorded in concert at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem from 1974.

Performing material from his then-new and aptly named Columbia release High Energy, Hubbard welcomes back Jazz to the Apollo (which had been strangely absent for a period of some twenty years prior to this 1974 concert) in the first half. The second half is made up of Les McCann, topping off his high voltage set with a great version of Compared To What?.

So if you were looking for something laid-back in the Jazz department today. . . . 'fraid not.

Turn it up and enjoy.
