News on this day in 1960 was all about the Democratic Convention going on in Los Angeles and speculation over who front runner Senator John F. Kennedy's vice-Presidential choice would be. Bets were placed on Stuart Symington as a possible candidate, but there was no clear indication. Doubtless, it was all down to the "smoke-filled rooms" and behind the scenes maneuvering.

Not much other news on this Hourly report from NBC Radio, aside from a plane crash in the Philippines where 87 of the 89 passengers were safe, one killed and one injured. And Tunisia introducing legislation in the UN regarding the situation in the Congo.
