(The Original Rock n' Roll Gypsies)
Another in a long line of excavations from the vault. This time it's a concert from July 21, 1968 featuring Hearts and Flowers. The reason the name may ring a bell is one of its members, Bernie Leadon would go on in a few short years to become a founding member of The Eagles. But here, in a purely acoustic setting Leadon and bandmate Larry Murray created a wonderful blending of folk, Country and rock in what would become the quintessential 70's West Coast sound. They had two albums on Capitol and their most memorable single was "Rock n' Roll Gypsies", pretty much a staple on free-form FM radio. 1968 would be the year FM Underground radio would spring up around the country. Top 40 radio and restricted playlists were slowly losing favor and bands like Hearts and Flowers filled the bill for new musical direction quite nicely.
They do a three song set here: "Highway In The Wind", "Rock n' Roll Gypsies" and "When I'm With You".
