On this day in 1969, the Woodstock Music and Art Fair in Bethel, N.Y., concluded with a mid-morning set by Jimi Hendrix.
The world's highest paid performer at the time, Hendrix passed away the following year from barbiturate-related asphyxia at the age of 27. But despite his limited mainstream exposure of four years, he still came to be known as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century.
I hope you enjoy tonight's selection, Hendrix's remarkable version of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower."
