A Fox News guest recently suggested that New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner (D) had continued to send illicit communications to multiple women online because he could not be sexually attracted to a wife who was "connected with Islamists."
In a Red Eye panel discussion pointed out by Right Wing Watch on Monday, the Lawfare Project's Brooke Goldstein said that "the real question is why is Weiner so un-attracted to Huma Abedin."
"Perhaps it’s because she is connected with Islamists who want to kill us!" she opined. "Perhaps it's because her family members are part and parcel of the Muslim Brotherhood. I completely agree with Andy McCarthy that she poses one of the greatest national security threats of this administration. She has access to the most classified information, because of her position with [former Secretary of State Hillary] Clinton about the Muslim Brotherhood, which is -- it's creed is to destroy America from within."
"And the only reason this disgraced man is able to run is because of his connections to Huma Abedin," she added.
Last year, Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and several other tea party-backed republicans called on the Obama administration to investigate “potential Muslim Brotherhood infiltration” of the government by Abedin. At the time, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) called the accusations "specious and degrading attacks."
New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd on Sunday also pointed to Abedin's childhood in Saudi Arabia to explain her devotion to Weiner.
For Goldstein, this all added up to the "Manchurian Marriage."
"That's big story here," she insisted. "And I feel like it's almost a setup. He's sending these sex texts -- or whatever we call them these days -- just to to distract from his wife."
