Donald Trump tried to appear somewhat moderate by vowing to give green cards to foreign students who graduated college, but his campaign had to scrap that plan quickly when his racist base objected.
Politico: “You graduate from a college, I think you should get automatically as part of your diploma a green card to be able to stay in this country, and that includes junior colleges too,” Trump said in an episode on the All-In podcast, which is hosted by several venture capitalists. He floated the idea after being asked by a host if he would promise to “give us ability to import the best and brightest around the world to America.”
Mark Krikorian, the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, immediately called his plan “a cockamamie proposal” that would unleash a “firehose of foreign cash” by effectively “stapling a green card to the diploma” of any US college graduate.
Trump's boast quickly wilted in about as long as a bird flaps its wings.
“President Trump has made it clear that on day one of his new administration, he’s going to shut down the border and launch the largest mass deportation effort of illegal aliens in history,” added Leavitt, touting an “aggressive vetting process” that would “exclude all communists, radical Islamists, Hamas supporters, America haters and public charges.”
“He believes, only after such vetting has taken place, we ought to keep the most skilled graduates who can make significant contributions to America,” she explained. “This would only apply to the most thoroughly vetted college graduates who would never undercut American wages or workers.”
What a coward.
