Rep. Jasmine Crockett called out Project 2025 horrors in a congressional hearing on May 15. Once again, journalist Aaron Rupar watched the House Judiciary Weaponization Subcommittee hearing, so you don't have to. The hearing featured GOP witness Gene Hamilton, a former Trump DOJ staffer who wrote Project 2025's Department of Justice chapter. Hamilton worked with Stephen Miller to create some of the most horrible policies of the Trump presidency. Accountable described Hamilton as responsible for "some of Trump's most draconian immigration proposals."
The outlet noted that "Hamilton's contributions to Project 2025 also include plans to criminalize abortion pills and do a complete "overhaul of the Department of Justice and the FBI, aiming for a government more beholden to political influence and the whims of the President."
Rep. Crockett Calls Out Project 2025 Horrors in Hearing
Thanks again to Aaron Rupar, we could watch Rep. Jasmine Crockett question Mr. Hamilton about some of his Project 2025 policies. Not all heroes wear capes!"
In addition to Rep. Crockett's excellent questions, Media Matters outlined some appalling policies in Hamilton's Project 2025 Department of Justice and Federal Law Enforcement chapter. The former Trump DOJ official wote, "anything other than a top-to-bottom overhaul will only further erode the trust of significant portions of the American people and harm the very fabric that holds together our constitutional republic." The Project 2025 author uses strong MAGA talking points in his chapter, criticizing the FBI for "the Russia hoax of 2016, Big Tech collusion, and suppression of Hunter Biden's laptop in 2020." Hamilton recommends taking legal action against "progressive prosecutors," and wrote that the Republican administration needs to review FBI investigations "and terminate any that are unlawful or contrary to the national interest."
