NYC Mayor Eric Adams has no issues with the notorious Rikers Island housing Donald Trump.
Justice Juan M. Merchan told Trump that he would face jail if he kept breaking the gag order, and Rikers would be the place where Don did his time.
Speaking to the media, Adams said they are ready.
“Our amazing commissioner, she is prepared for whatever comes on Rikers Island,” said the mayor at an unrelated news conference, apparently referring to Lynelle Maginley-Liddie, the commissioner of the Department of Correction. “I’m pretty sure she would be prepared to manage and deal with the situation.
On Tuesday, Mr. Adams expressed no concerns about the challenges Mr. Trump’s imprisonment might pose for Rikers Island. “They’re professionals,” he said. “They’ll be ready.”
I grew up near a park where yellow buses taking prisoners to Rikers Island would pass by while we played hoops.
