During Trey Gowdy's weekend show on Fox, Gowdy and his guests, Charlie Hurt and Leslie Marshall were rehashing some of the so-called "debate" between Gavin Newsom and Ron DeSantis, a much like some of his other Fox counterparts, Hurt of course was trying to spin the debacle as being bad for Newsom, but Gowdy and Marshall both responded with astonishment that either Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis believe that it's somehow a good idea to run on repealing the Affordable Care Act.
GOWDY: What I want is boring. I know people don't want day long debates, but these are serious issues, one of which is healthcare, so, Leslie, much to the Republicans chagrin, Obamacare has probably more popular than maybe what they thought. So why bring it up as an election issue when there are so many other things that are currently not going well in the country, why would Republicans want to bring back up healthcare unless they have a replacement strategy?
MARSHALL: I don't know. I mean, I'm not a Republican, and maybe that's one of the reasons, because they always want to point to Democrats saying “This isn't working,” but they never have a plan that says our plan is this, and this is the plan that would work.
Look, pulling healthcare from people, whether it is a thousand, a million, 10 million plus, which we have on Obamacare, is stupid. It's unwise, and I would even argue it's immoral.
Yes it is, which is something you're generally not allowed to say on Murdoch's propaganda network. Personally I think the answer to Gowdy's question is that they're both stupid and arrogant and believe their voters are too stupid to figure out that it's nothing but snake oil they're selling them.
They're probably right when it comes to their base, but good luck running on taking away people's health insurance in the general election.
The Biden campaign and Newsom both noticed Marshal's remarks.
