Over the weekend there was a drumbeat of bad polling news for President Handsome Joe Biden and the Democrats, and by now you probably saw all or most of ‘em.
Some reflections:
- The big CBS News poll was done entirely online and not even by phone. Online polls are garbage, by the way.
- One poll showed a Biden collapse in young voters, others did not.
- These polls tells us nothing about next year.
- Polls are not predictive.
- Republicans are currently running 2024 Goat Rodeo media campaigns; Democrats are not.
- Remember 2022? Polls predicted a red wave in the 2022 midterms and it never happened.
Here’s the thing that is keeping me sane: elections are all about addition. Ask yourself —with all of Hair Füror’s antics— who is he adding to his roll of voters? We’ve noted many times his base is unshakable, but it is also his ceiling. He’s not adding any constituencies. And if he loses his court cases and is convicted in some number of his 91 criminal counts (which seems likely), he might lose some voters.
Guys, keep your nerves steady, and don’t wring your hands. Our Failed Political Press ™ wants a horse race and they will manufacture one if it kills all of us.
