Other than Donald Trump, it’s hard to think of anyone in more legal and financial hot water than Giuliani. Or a guy nobody who wants to get paid should ever work for. But unlike Trump, Giuliani was once held in the highest esteem, first as a crusading U.S. attorney who locked up top mobsters, then as “America’s mayor.”
Although this latest suit is “only” for $10,000, plus another $15,000 in legal fees, it’s indicative of just how far Giuliani has fallen. His former lawyers, one of whom worked for Giuliani during his U.S. attorney days, sued him for $1.4 million in September. There are also an unpaid $30,000 phone bill owed by his consulting firm and a $15,700 bill from the expert who appraised Giuliani’s art collection during his 2018 divorce, The Daily Beast notes.
But they pale in comparison to the defamation case brought by two Georgia election workers and the criminal racketeering charges he faces in Georgia. More from The Daily Beast:
Giuliani has lost a defamation case in the nation’s capital before it even goes to trial, as a Washington federal judge has already decided that the disgraced former mayor spread vicious lies about two Georgia poll workers in his conspiracy-laden attempt to reverse Trump’s election loss in 2020. Giuliani is now begging the judge to not put the matter to a jury for a damages-only trial, asking her to instead make the decision herself.
Meanwhile, the guy who once took all the credit for dismantling the New York mob is facing his own criminal racketeering case in Fulton County, Georgia for trying to overturn the election there on Trump’s behalf. The case is looking increasingly dire for the many co-defendants left, given that several MAGA insiders have already flipped, including lawyer Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell.
And did I mention that Giuliani already owes more than $230,00 in sanctions over the election worker case? Or that he’s had his law license suspended in New York and Washington, D.C.?
On top of all that, he’s a dirty old man.
