Those poor, poor mistreated January 6th insurrectionists. As we discussed here back in August of 2021, InfoWars host Owen Shroyer was none too happy when he informed his audience that he had until the following Monday to turn himself into authorities:
A host for the far-right conspiracy website InfoWars was charged in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot this week – with federal prosecutors alleging he broke the terms of a deal to avoid charges from a January 2020 arrest.
[...]
Shroyer is in even more legal jeopardy than most, as he also interrupted a House Judiciary Committee hearing in December 2019. Part of his sentencing was 32 hrs of community service, which Shroyer never did.
In mid-September, Shroyer was finally sentenced to two months in prison.
Now his lawyer Norm Pattis is running to Steve Bannon's network to whine about how terribly unfair it is that his client has been put in solitary confinement for a second time, and claiming that "the D.C. prosecutors office has their thumb on the scale for punishment of J6ers."
Here's more on that from the Independent:
Alex Jones’ sidekick Owen Shroyer has been thrown into solitary confinement for a second time after he said he was planning to host an Infowars show from jail.
Shroyer, a conspiracy theorist, January 6 rioter and co-host on Mr Jones’ show, is currently serving 60 days in federal prison for his part in the mob of rioters who stormed the US Capitol almost two years ago.
While the right-wing host did not enter the Capitol building itself, he did lead other Donald Trump supporters to the building and in chants to the top of the steps.
After pleading guilty to a misdemeanour charge of illegally entering a restricted area, Shroyer had to give up his day job of promoting groundless claims and theories about the 2020 election on Infowars to serve time behind bars.
But, on 31 October, an account which seems to be operated by someone on behalf of Shroyer, posted an audio recording stating that he planned to host a radio show while serving time.
This reminds me of the Proud Boys leader Joe Biggs calling Alex Jones from prison. The article from the Independent notes that covid protocols may by why Shroyer found himself in solitary, and that he was complaining on the social network site formerly known at Twitter that the prison was “using covid as an excuse" to keep him there.
Regardless of the actual circumstances, all of these clowns are happy to use any excuse they can find to claim they're just poor persecuted political prisoners that did nothing wrong.
