After Tuesday's vote passing a short term continuing resolution thanks to Democrats, there are some really MAGA mad Republicans, including Rep. Chip Roy, who took his anger to the House floor for a little vent. Today they recessed the House until after Thanksgiving after two appropriations bills were pulled from the floor because Republicans couldn't pass them without Democrats' support.
"One thing," he shouted. "I want my Republican colleagues to give me one thing, one, that I can go campaign on and say we did."
"One."
"Anybody sitting in the complex, if you want to come down to the floor and come explain to me one material, meaningful, significant thing the Republican majority has done besides, well, I guess it's not as bad as the Democrats."
No one rose to the occasion, because it's true. They haven't done one thing, unless you count the ouster of Kevin McCarthy and installation of white Christian nationalist Mike Johnson as Speaker.
This is a fabulous ad for House Democrats. They should run it everywhere, especially in districts like Abigail Spanberger's. She's giving up her seat to run for governor in 2025, but Eugene Vindman has declared his intention to run for her seat. This will make a perfect ad for him.
Because by now everyone should realize that Republicans do not want to govern. They want to burn it all down, which is why they can't even name one thing they've done for the people who elected them.
