Republican Representative Nancy Mace showed up for a closed door meeting of her caucus wearing a giant, red letter A on the front of her shirt and told the press this:

I'm wearing this scarlet letter after the week I just had last week being a woman up her and being demonized for my vote and my voice. I'm here to let the rest of the world know that I'm here on the side of the people and not on the side of the establishment. And I'm going to do the right thing every single time, no matter the consequences. I don't answer to anybody in DC. I don't answer to anyone in Washington. I only answer to the people.

Apparently, Mace wasn't really willing to face the consequences of being on the eight Republicans that voted to toss former Speaker Kevin McCarthy to the curb and to throw the government and the country into chaos. So, to take the heat off of herself, she decided to play the victim card, pretending that people were pissed at her because she was a woman and not because she stabbed a lot of people in the back.

But to wear the Scarlet Letter is just ridiculous. It would be much more appropriate for Lauren "Beetlejuice" Boebert or Marge Sporkfoot.

You can't really blame Mace, though. It just shows what happens when people start banning books and stop reading them.
