Some of them are actually running around saying they'll draft Trump for Speaker. Others of them are evicting Nancy Pelosi because reasons.
October 4, 2023

We got a small taste of how utterly demented Republicans are when they voted to oust Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House for failing to shut down the government and not defaulting on the debt. Had McCarthy not been such an idiot to Democrats, he might have had some support from them, but he's as screwed up as the rest of them and thinks he can blame his own failings on Dems. So now he's been ousted as Speaker and Republicans are in total meltdown mode over it.

I mean, who can blame them when only 8 of them managed to oust their own leader? But wait! There's more. After Republicans met tonight, a couple of developments emerged. First, Speaker Pro Tem Patrick McHenry sent a one-day eviction notice to Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi to vacate her Capitol offices by tomorrow when he plans to "re-key the locks." This is an office Pelosi has had since she was Speaker. Most representatives don't have offices in the Capitol building but she does. Or she did. McHenry plans to take those back from her while she's on the West Coast attending Senator Dianne Feinstein's funeral. How...petty of him.

But the real development is that wingnut Republicans want to draft Donald Trump as Speaker of the House. Yep, you read that right. Here are a couple of tweets from demented Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was all for Kevin McCarthy until he was gone. Now that he's not going to put his name forward again, she had an idea!

And then Troy Nehls, another chaotic evil type chimed in:

Whacko Greg Steube cast his vote:

Jim Jordan is on board with it, despite the fact that he wants to throw his hat in the Speaker ring:

Oh, hey, here's the QAnon Shaman dude, making his bid:

And that prompted Sean Hannity to seriously inform Fox viewers that "I have been told that President Trump might be open to helping the Republican Party at least in the short term, if necessary." Oh please, shove that idea right in the furnace and let it burn for eternity, please.

Here's a sad but true fact: House rules would forbid such a thing. Which is good, because these nutbags are so full of chaos and destruction that they'd actually do this if they could.

Given the level of pure delusion and chaos from Republicans, how is it that they're still in any office at all? The entire party ought to be burned to the ground by voters and left as scrap. They cannot govern. Cannot. This is the fourth time they've proven that, and it's never going to get better.

Look! Even Ari Fleischer agrees:

I'll give BowTie McHenry the last word:
