A couple of months ago, Trump attorney and GOP operative Cleta Mitchell was caught advising GOP donors that the Republicans needed to make it harder for college kids to vote and to scale back early voting:
NASHVILLE — A top Republican legal strategist told a roomful of GOP donors over the weekend that conservatives must band together to limit voting on college campuses, same-day voter registration and automatic mailing of ballots to registered voters, according to a copy of her presentation reviewed by The Washington Post.
[...] The presentation — which had more than 50 slides and was labeled “A Level Playing Field for 2024” — offered a window into a strategy that seems designed to reduce voter access and turnout among certain groups, including students and those who vote by mail, both of which tend to skew Democratic.
The Wisconsin Republican Party, which is holding their state convention this weekend, appeared to be in goosestep along with Team Trump:
Republicans gathering Saturday at their state convention in La Crosse are poised to take up resolutions to eliminate Wisconsin's election agency, keep college kids from voting on their campuses and end most forms of early voting.
The non-binding proposals, which will be voted on by delegates, reflect a portion of the state party still preoccupied with the notion that elections are not secure and accurate.
This comes despite numerous court rulings affirming 2020 election results and investigations, reviews and audits producing no evidence of widespread fraud in the state as President Joe Biden defeated former President Donald Trump.

Another resolution takes aim at student voting, amid the claim "students who arrive at college campuses in the fall are immediately campaigned by democrats and are repeatedly told by faculty and other students who they should vote for." The resolution said: "STUDENTS shall vote by absentee ballot at the polling place assigned to their permanent home address (not a temporary college address)."
State Republicans are also still extremely salty because it was college students who came out in droves to vote in the spring election, and switching the state supreme court to liberal majority for the first time in 15 years.
Surprisingly, they are not all on the same page. Brian Schimming, their newly appointed part chair, apparently didn't get the memo and is all for early voting, despite what the rest of the party says:

However, this is far from their only, or even the worst, problem they're having this year.
