Rep. Eric Swalwell has unfortunately been on the receiving end of literally hundreds of serious threats over the years. His fearlessness when assisting with the impeachment of Donald Trump, his extremely active twitter feed and his refusal to back down to the MAGA mob has made him a target for years. On Wednesday, Swalwell received a death threat from ex-49er Bruce Miller. Miller says his message was not a threat.
You decide:
Sounds like a legitimate threat to me.
Swalwell provided the following statement to a news org:
“I don’t generally publicize threats except in this case there was an imminency to it – he said, ‘Almost time’ – and also (Miller’s) prior history of violence with two arrests. I thought the best way to protect myself was to make sure I put the threat out there and we’d hopefully learn more who it was and it was indeed him. I just put him on notice that we see this, you’re not going to intimidate me, and I’m going to protect my family and my staff.”
Miller's response was not the denial he thought it was when the words were rolling around in his giant, empty head. His statement in response to Swalwell publicizing his threatening direct message was: “That was in no way a threat to you or your family,” calling it a “harmless game of ‘would you rather’ Guantanamo or execution.”
Yeah, that is definitely HARMLESS.
Miller has a history of violent behavior. He was arrested back in 2016 after facing seven felony assault and battery charges and faced spousal abuse charges.
Capitol Police have been notified of this very direct threat.
