This video features an interview with Justin Elliott, one of the team of reporters at ProPublica who conducted the blockbuster investigation into the Clarence Thomas corruption scandal at the Supreme Court. His reporting showed unusual financial ties between Harlan Crow, a real estate billionaire based out of Texas, and Justice Thomas. He discovered millions of dollars in gifts, benefits, and luxury trips that the influential wingnut billionaire showered on Thomas.
But Elliot also discovered other details that he brought to light, including the secret real estate deal where Crow bought Clarence Thomas' mother's house for her so she could live in it rent free. He also paid years of tuition for Thomas's grand-nephew at a expensive private school for troubled kids (i.e. rich kid's boot camp).
Cliff Schecter helps connect the dots to the web of dark money funneled through the Federalist Society that engineered placing right wing judges onto the bench and keeps many of them living in luxury (see Leonard Leo and Ginni Thomas), and being constantly influenced by a secretive network of right-wing extremists. As an out-of-control Supreme Court votes to take away fundamental rights and freedoms from Americans, he exposes how much of this agenda is driven by a cabal of the radical right.
