Fox News co-host Brian Kilmeade called out RNC Chairman Ronna McDaniel on Fox and Friends for trying to claim that Trump "never shies away from a debate."
Co-host Steve Doocy read off a Trump social media post where he argues that since he is leading the polls, he sees no value in even doing a Republican primary debate. In the next breath, he played the victim card claiming every media personality hates him, so why bother?
"So, did you talk to him about the debates? Is he in, or is this just what he does? He did this in 2016 -- working the refs," Doocy asked.
McDaniel said she has talked to Trump about the coming Fox News debate in Milwaukee.
"I think he'll do it. President Trump never shies away from a debate. And he did very well in debates ---"
"He does! He skipped ours. He skipped ours in 2016," Brian Kilmeade hastily interrupted.
Without blinking, McDaniel responded.
"He did. He skipped one," she said. "But, you know, he was at the center of the debate stage in 2016 and never left it."
Oops.
Trump ditched the Fox News debate in 2016 because he was in a feud with Megyn Kelly and when the network refused to replace her, he bailed.
It's wild how Republicans still lie for Trump at every turn. Going from 'he never does' to "well, just once" is routine for the GOP.
