Attorney for the Trump Campaign 2024 and former Newsmax correspondent Christina Bobb had some strange ideas about the alleged Chinese spy balloon that was successfully taken down.
But just before the balloon met its demise, Bobb suggested that Republican members of Congress should take it down. In a separate tweet, Bobb made the wild-eyed claim that our military leaders ignored President Biden's command to take the balloon down.
Reality: President Biden ordered the Pentagon to down the balloon on Wednesday. However, commanders were concerned about debris killing people on the ground. Military members did not ignore the Commander in Chief.
"After careful analysis, U.S. military commanders had determined downing the balloon while over land posed an undue risk to people across a wide area due to the size and altitude of the balloon and its surveillance payload," Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said. "In accordance with the president's direction, the Department of Defense developed options to take down the balloon safely over our territorial waters while closely monitoring its path and intelligence collection activities."
Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said, "And so out of an abundance of caution, cognizant of the potential impact to civilians on the ground from a debris field, right now, we’re going to continue to monitor and review options."
It's part of a President's job to keep us safe, not to have debris rain down upon us from the sky. Bobb's suggestions aren't too unexpected. After all, she's the cheerleader for the former President who danced while Americans were dying during the pandemic.
The balloon at the time was between 60,000 and 65,000 feet high. Meaning that it's impossible for someone to take it down safely with a gun. A bullet won't reach 65,000 feet in the air. Chinese spy balloons also flew into U.S. airspace while Trump was in office. He did nothing about it.
