Fox News really, really wants to make a Pete Buttigieg "scandal" happen. But the clean-cut, happily married-with-children, war vet will not play along.
Apparently, Fox prefers their "gays" to be closeted carnival barkers who organize entire right-wing grifting festivals around "grooming."
The right-wing ecosphere was desperate to pin Southwest's Christmastime debacle on Buttigieg, Biden's Transportation Secretary. Some of us pushed back on that...
And then Pete went hard on the airline in defense of passengers.
So Fox had to find something else. Like OMG a Transportation Secretary TOOK HIS SPOUSE on an official trip!!!
Fox calls being in the official US delegation to the Invictus Games, which features wounded VETERANS, "a sporting event," and claims it's a "controversy" that Chasten Buttigieg went.
BRET BAIER, FOX NEWS: Was that reimbursed?
PETE BUTTIGIEG: Of course not. I led a presidential delegation to support American wounded warriors and injured service members – the Invictus Games, as has been tradition for many years.
I led the American delegation as one of the great honors of my time in this job. And the diplomatic protocol on a presidential delegation is that the principal is often accompanied by their spouse. It was a great trip. Incredible. Before me, it was the Secretary of the Army under President Trump who took that trip with his wife. Before that, it was Mrs. Trump as First Lady who went. Before that, Mrs. Obama did the same thing.
And I guess the question on my mind is, if no one’s raising questions about why secretary [Mark] Esper and his wife led that delegation, as well they should have, then why is it any different when it’s me and my husband?
BAIER: Understood.
