In what feels like the eleventy bazillionth vote for the Speaker of the House, Rep. Kat Cammack took to the floor, claiming that Democrats want division. She then said that Democrats were drinking on the job.
"They want us divided. They want us to fight each other," she insisted. "That much has been made clear by the popcorn and blankets and alcohol that is coming over there."
She appeared to act like it was just a joke after her slanderous words were met with jeers. The problem here is that she's not funny. Not even a tiny bit.
The House Republican leadership standoff has been going on for a second day after Kevin McCarthy failed to secure enough votes three times on Tuesday.
A small group of hard right-wingers has hijacked the process, demanding concessions or alternative candidates. It's an absolute shitshow.
So, before Cammack mocks Democrats, she needs to give her party a nice long look. Republicans just became a majority in the House, and they can't get to work because there is no Speaker.
Democrats called for her inappropriate words to be stricken from the record, but again, there is no Speaker to take care of that.
