“John has this fantastic face, this imposing figure,” added Bale. "So I said to Scott, 'We have to have it at the tavern, right? You have to have that face, it's an 1830s face. Because a lot of faces don't fit the 1830s."

The film opens in theatres on December 23 and on NetFlix on January 6.

Pennsylvania Senator-elect Jean Fetterman will soon travel to Washington, DC to represent Keystone State in the upper house of Congress. However, before he did, it was revealed that Fetterman and his wife Giselle Fettermann got to show off their acting skills in cameos in Netflix's upcoming film The Pale Blue Eye.

Set in 1830s New York City, the film will feature veteran detective Augustus Landor ( Christian Bale ) as he investigates a series of murders at the US Naval Academy at West Point. According to Netflix's logline, Landor "enlists one of their own to help unravel the case - a young man the world will know as Edgar Allan Poe ( Harry Melling )." Fetterman confirmed his involvement with the project in a Twitter post showing him and his wife in period clothing alongside Bale and the film's director, Scott Cooper. “This is me + G + Christian Bale circa 1830,” Fetterman wrote in the post.

Giselle follows up with a Twitter post of her own, depicting the couple once again in their 1830s outfits. It appears the future senator and his wife also received a private screening courtesy of Netflix, as Giselle added a second photo of the film shown in a movie theatre, as well as a third photo of their names appearing in the credits. “Here are mom and dad in 1830 and today,” she captioned the post.

Pale Blue Eye will mark the third collaboration between Bale and Cooper, following Hostiles and Out of the Oven , and it looks like Fetterman's involvement with the latter may have helped him get picked up for the pair's latest project. During a recent panel with Bale and Cooper, they talked about how they got to know Fetterman and eventually landed him a role in The Pale Blue Eye. "Christian and I had become good friends with current Sen. John Fetterman," Cooper said. “When I wrote Out of the oven, I had researched the steel towns, the dying steel towns, and he was the mayor of Braddock, PA...He was a big help to Christian and me in shooting almost the entire movie in Braddock, PA. Christian and I just became friends with him.”

“John has this fantastic face, this imposing figure,” added Bale. "So I said to Scott, 'We have to have it at the tavern, right? You have to have that face, it's an 1830s face. Because a lot of faces don't fit the 1830s." The pair also noted that Fetterman looked like a "survivor" and would show up in shorts and as a hoodie, no matter how cold the weather or freezing conditions.
