Hours before the mid-terms polls closed, Fox News host Martha MacCallum claimed that Social Security funds are going to expire soon if Congress doesn't find a way to fund it properly.
That's not true.
Juan Williams was correct: the Republican agenda is to cut into Medicare and Social Security.
MacCallum immediately objected.
"That's not what he said, and you know it," she said.
"That's what he [Rick Scott] wrote in his policy. That's what he wrote down as part of his agenda, that every two years we should look at this," Williams replied.
"[Scott] said it should be checked in every five years," she said.
And then the real lying began.
'First of all, let me say one thing. It's all going to be gone if they don't start checking on it because it's due to expire,' MacCallum said. "We can't even fill the social security coffers..."
Social Security is not going to expire. If Republicans refuse to budge, then more funds will be going out instead of coming into the Social Security trust fund.
"Well, they've been lied to about whether or not they'll see Social Security," MacCallum exclaimed.
That's another lie.
As the onscreen bickering continued, the Fox News host said, "It's going to end itself, Juan."
WTF does, 'end itself' mean?
This is not a government handout but a paid-in benefit for Americans.
Fox News has been defending Rick Scott's radical agenda to cut our social safety nets, and this attempt by MacCallum is gross.
And if Fox News viewing seniors are made to focus BY FOX on risks to their Social Security, rather than rainbow fentanyl at the border, they're NOT going to vote Republican. MacCallum better check her propaganda notes.
