Christian nationalists in North Carolina have proposed a bill that would place the life of fertilized cells over the actual woman, and she would be prosecuted for first-degree murder that carries the death penalty.
GRV Media, a UK company, launched The Focus in 2020 and writes, "According to this bill “distinct and separate human life begins at the moment of fertilization”, meaning any “person who willfully seeks to destroy the life of another person, by any means, at any stage of life, or succeeds in doing so, shall be held accountable for attempted murder or for first-degree murder, respectively.”
It's all about controlling women.
Period.
Executing a woman over their religious beliefs puts the US in league with the Salem witch trials.
The bill was submitted by Larry Pittman, who is not seeking reelection in 2023, but four other state legislators signed on in support.
Five equals an entire village for the religious right.
Regardless of who, what, where, when, or how likely it is for this bill to become law, we all know one thing for certain.
It only takes a single wingnut Christian nationalist to propose an insane idea like murdering a woman over conception that will eventually be adopted by the entirety of the GOP.
Gilead, here we come.
