I heard this slice of countrified R&B on the radio last night and it got me thinking about songs that have extended spoken sections in them. Tired Eyes by Neil Young? Patches by Clarence Carter? Millie Jackson had so many of these spoken sections in her songs that some call her the ‘mother of hip hop’. How many songs with spoken sections can y’all come up with tonight?
