Viral footage circulated on social media on Sunday of a restaurant on Castle Rock, CO. In this footage you could see a packed dining room of maskless people getting brunch and lunch, in complete violation of a public health order banning open dining rooms. Every seat was taken and no one was following social distancing rules. At all. Some people were getting coffee or takeout, others were dining in.
The owner put a post on Facebook stating that she planned to be open, but she did not expect for it to be as busy as it was. She told Colorado Community Media:
“I expected it to be busy. I never expected this. I'm so happy so many people came out to support the Constitution and stand up for what is right. We did our time. We did our two weeks. We did more than two weeks…and we were failing. We had to do something.”
She "did her time"? Is she comparing being at home, safely, to PRISON TIME? My god, how dumb are these people? She selfishly opened her restaurant in the middle of a highly contagious pandemic because she couldn't be at home for another few weeks?
The Castle Rock Police Department clearly didn't approve of this stunt. They notified the Tri-County Health Department of the violation, stating all restaurants must cease dine-in service until at least May 31.
The owner still doesn't feel like she did anything wrong, telling the media that “we in the service industry have been taking precautions for years… We wash and sanitize everything anyway...People are piling into (retailers). So right now, I don't really see the difference. And we're human… I know a lot of things are ran by fear. I don't have that fear."

The Tri-County Health issued the following statement:
"We are disappointed that C&C Breakfast & Korean Kitchen, a Cookies and Crema Company in Castle Rock, has decided to ignore the Governor’s Safer at Home order and open up today with no attention to social distancing. This decision runs the risk of undermining the impact that other Douglas County businesses and residents have achieved over the last seven weeks by taking various social distancing measures. As the entity charged with enforcing the Governor’s statewide Safer at Home Public Health Order, we will follow up with this restaurant to ensure that they, like other restaurants in the county, take appropriate steps to protect the public health, by limiting service to curbside and take-out service."
Governor Jared Polis acted swiftly, calling the restaurant an "immediate health hazard" and immediately suspended the restaurant license of C&C Breakfast & Korean Kitchen in Castle Rock. Oh, and the license is suspended indefinitely — at least for 30 days.
