Yea verily, the Thug-in-Chief spoke once again and spewed forth his opinion on the justice system, at least as it applies to people accused of committing terrorist attacks.
"We have to get much tougher. We have to get much smarter. And we have to get much less politically correct. We're so politically correct that we're afraid to do anything," he sneered. "That's not only our country, that's other countries too that are having very similar problems."
Repeating himself, he said again, "We have to get tough. We have to get smart. We have to do what's right to protect our citizens. We will never waiver in the defense of our beloved country. Ever. We'll never, ever forget the beautiful lives that have been taken from us."
"[Yesterday's attack] was a horrible event. We have to stop it. We have to stop it cold," Trump vowed, going on to say, "We also have to come up with punishment that's far quicker and far greater than the punishment these animals are getting right now."
Animals. Last I looked, they're humans accused of horrible deeds, but still humans.
Trump then launched a furious attack on the justice system.
"They'll go through court for years. At the end, who knows what happens. We need quick justice, and we need strong justice," he snarled. "Much quicker and much stronger than we have right now."
For emphasis, he added this: "Because what we have right now is a joke, and it's a laughingstock."
He can have whatever opinion he likes about the justice system, but he'd best be careful what he wishes for. A system that metes out punishment to "animals" and is "quick justice and strong justice" might not be what he's looking for by the time Robert Mueller wraps up his investigation and hands down all the indictments.
