After Rex Tillerson got everyone's attention this morning by announcing an "unscheduled statement," he came out and said "No! No! I think the president is smart!"

The whole thing sounded to me like a hostage speech. I kept checking to see if he was blinking out "help me" in Morse code.

The money quote from his comments was about claims that he called Trump a "moron."

And after his appearance the panel at MSNBC pushed back hard, noting that the Senate Appropriations Committee has flatly rejected Trump's budget proposal (or lack of money at all for diplomacy) as not serving American interests.

Stephanie Ruhle said that Tillerson not only said "moron," he said "effing moron" using the expletive.

And then Hallie Jackson sighed and read the Trump tweet because of course Tillerson was only talking to one person.
