Crooks and Liars - When I was a kid, my folks used to listen to A Prairie Home Companion on Saturdays; there was something sort of great about all of us gathering around the radio and listening to a show while making dinner. I thought for our Saturday links, we'd mix things up a little and present a short list of podcasts you might want to listen to. Some are off the beaten path and others are probably already in your bookmark list. Tell me what you listen to, you know, in the comments. I'm always looking for a new podcast!

The Professional Left Podcast stars Crooks and Liars' own Bluegal and Driftglass, and is (I think) the smartest hour or so of my week. Destination listening, as it were, when it comes out each Friday (and has, uninterrupted for 410 episodes).

Chapo Trap House is a politics and comedy podcast that often has name-brand guests (Naomi Klein — episode 142 is particularly great). In the age of Preznint Stupid, we all need a few laughs to drown out our sobbing.

The Racist Sandwich Podcast out of Portland Orgon is at the intersection of food/race/class/gender, and frankly it is amazing how often the food industry smack in the middle of all of our modern buttons. The recent bonus episode where one of the Dreamer producers got his green card just before Hair Fuehrer decided to cancel DACA is very moving.

Bonus Track: The Southern Foodways Alliance podcast, Gravy isn't political per se, but great story telling often touches on political topics. It is hosted by John T. Edge, author of The Potlikker Papers, which is sort of the lefty antidote to the Hillbilly Elegy.
