Fox News' Judge Napolitano told Shep Smith that he believes George Papadopoulos wore a wire to get a reduced sentence, noting his belief that this is the tip of the iceberg in Mueller's investigations.
In a very long and detailed segment with Fox News' Shepard Smith, Judge Napolitano was very candid about what the plea deal George Papadopoulos reached with the FBI might mean for the Trump administration.
Smith said, "Analysts say Robert Mueller's decision to reveal all of this now sends a message that Papadopoulos could be giving the special counsel some key information. Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano is here. You think he wore a wire."
Judge Nap replied, "I think he wore a wire.
Smith replied, "You're not alone."
The judge explained that his was a very unusual plea agreement because "it occurred in secret."
The prosecution and defense team have to convince a judge that it's in the best interest of a an ongoing criminal investigation to keep this information sealed..
Judge Nap explained, "Translated, he's become one of our witnesses, he's probably wearing a wire, we're going to send him to talk to some people. If they know he's pleaded guilty because you make this public your honor, then you'll defeat our criminal investigation. the judge says, OK."
This is a very good segment on what might have happened between Bob Mueller and George Papadopoulos so I'd watch it in its entirety.
They also outline a time frame that includes Sally Yates and Gen. Flynn.
The judge said when he was asked to make a guess on who the indictment would have been for, he believed it was Gen. Flynn. He's not sure if he's a cooperating witness now but we'll know very soon and he thinks that's next up for Mueller.
Shep then brought up the elephant in the room. "The president says this is all fake news."
Napolitano sighed and said, "This is serious stuff. It's not fake. Manafort and Gates are charged with enough jail time to put them in jail for the rest of their lives. That will cause their lawyers to start negotiating with Bob Mueller."
"And if they don't?," Smith asked.
Napolitano answered, "Then you'll see serious prosecutions and criminal trials and who knows who will come out of it."
