Ha, ha! Much Morning Joe merriment over the older rubes who still believe there was a conspiracy to kill JFK in the wake of the release of carefully culled classified records yesterday. No mention whatsoever of the Church select committee investigation that concluded there was a likely government conspiracy.
Ha, ha!
But Donny Deutsch pointed out the likely political implications of the fact that some records were not released.
"Look, I'm a big Oliver Stone fan, I saw the movie," he said.
"Can I be cynical for a second? We have a commander-in-chief, a shiny toy, look over his pocket for a month or a day to kind of go 'No, no, look over here,' you say, 'Why not now?' Particularly a guy who you would see, he would be the first one to say, look what happened over there, so maybe he's saving it for a rainy day."
(What? Like the release of the Mueller findings?)
"We also have a president who has dabbled in conspiracy theories, birtherism, he was a force behind that," said Jonathan Lemire.
"We saw the footage of him floating the idea that Ted Cruz's father was involved. There is no information in these documents that will fulfill Trump's thoughts about Ted Cruz or his dad, this is something, long planned to be released yesterday and Trump, of course, took credit as he is wont to do."
Here's the real kicker: The JFK files are famously missing all the important parts. Entire pertinent files have completely disappeared, so no bombshell revelations here.
But that doesn't mean there was a conspiracy. Ha, ha!
