Oh, the irony of a Senate candidate going full-bore racist in the name of unity! It could only happen in Alabama.
Bemoaning the divisions in the United States, Senate candidate and defrocked Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore said, “Now we have blacks and whites fighting, reds and yellows fighting, Democrats and Republicans fighting, men and women fighting. What’s going to unite us?" Presumably his reference to "reds and yellows fighting" was a racist reference to Native Americans and Asians?
I'm going to go out on on a limb here and say that I'm pretty sure dropping people into categories like "blacks and whites...reds and yellows" is not a unifying act. It is demeaning.
Moore seems to think his version of God is the only Great Unifier, but I'm guessing that if his god thinks dropping folks into siloes based on color is a good thing, that's a non-starter too.
Maybe if divisive, hateful folks like Moore didn't run for office and we didn't have a Cheeto in the White House, unity might be achievable. As it stands now, I'll just be grateful if we keep the ACA intact.
