Retired General Russel Honoré stopped by Anderson Cooper's show to discuss the Trump administration's sluggish response to the disaster in Puerto Rico and what he thought should happen to pick up the pace.
After pointing out that Trump should have been moving the military last Saturday but was instead "out playing golf and twittering," General Honoré ran down the timeline, noting that it took the administration until Tuesday to name a general to lead the federal effort.
And yet, he was still concerned, because it appears that the administration has not given the proper authority to the commanders to actually get things done.
"I heard a conversation earlier today that indicated if the task force commander wanted to do air drops, he could make a recommendation," said Honoré.
"That's bullshit! Now that Commander Buchanan is on the ground, he needs to be giving orders and figure out what rule needs to be breaked to save lives," he scolded.
"With all due respect to the White House for trying to put lipstick on this pig but it's moving too slow and don't have it scaled right," he continued. "They need at least 100 helicopters there, there's less than 50 now. 15 ships, we've got less than 10."
He wrapped up his rant by suggesting they hop to and "get moving to save lives."
