It is not my policy, nor the policy of C&L, to ever punch down and denigrate or "out" an average citizen of the United States who goes about his or her business without bothering anyone.

But if you call up C-Span and spout your opinion, and that opinion is worth punching?

The beginning of this clip is important, too. It turns out Reuters has been investigating drinking water quality across the country and found a great many what might be called "mini Flint Michigans" all over the US.

CSpan's guest was USA Today reporter Laura Unger, who has also investigated the nation's water quality and mentioned specifically a town in the mountains of West Virginia, Coal Mountain, where literally no one owns the well where the town's water comes from. It's called an "orphaned" well, someone stops by periodically to treat the well water with bleach because that's what they've been told works, and that's it. No accountability and no one to call if the water goes bad.

So then a Trump supporter calls CSPAN. And says this:

CALLER: Good morning. The EPA just is bloated bureaucracy. For all their money and all their size, they have not done anything for the people. Finally, they get an administration that will cut them back, trim them up, and you will get more help from Trump. I think he will be one of the greatest Presidents we have ever had in a very long time. People need to cool down and relax and give the man a chance.

CSPAN HOST: Do you trust your water system, there in New Cumberland, West Virginia?

CALLER: I have well water myself. I've had it tested about five years ago. It is in good shape. ...

You mean you have NOT had your water tested for five years? And it's well water? From a well?

(PS I did look up New Cumberland, everyone's water comes from 3 wells. It's a municipality. But it's not clear from his answer if he is on that system or has his own well that he tested five years ago.)

Regardless of that, he trusts Trump to fix the EPA. By cutting it. Good luck with that, and call Flint, Michigan when you have your water tested again, will ya?

Another caller (not in this clip) had a different point of view:

CALLER 2: I cannot tell you how we have ignored our infrastructure in this country. I have seen it myself. in the Cleveland area, I have dug around a large water main up to 36 inches diameter and larger. things were put -- installed in the late 1800s. Main feeder lines to the city of Cleveland and I can tell you that all the joints that connect the pipes together are .... I installed the [repairs] myself -- up to the 1890's -- This has contaminated the water and we have ignored it. now it has become a terrible health problem that will be seen in Flint Michigan. It is really sad to see what has happened there. These people, especially in West Virginia and areas like that, they are considered Darwin people. These are citizens!

To poison your own people, think about it.

The people of Michigan voted in a governor simply because he was a businessman and he will run the government as a business. As we all know, most businesses are inherently sociopathic. Not to denigrate them, their main concern is money. Not the people. A government's function is to take care of their people. not worry about the money. The money certainly has to come from somewhere but to ignore infrastructure is a horrible thing.
