President Obama appears to be on the verge of rolling out something. What it is, is less clear. In an excerpt of an interview with NPR tonight, Obama said there will be retaliation of some sort, and he's only got about 35 days left in his term.
Speaking to NPR's Steve Inskeep, Obama said, "I think there is no doubt that when any foreign government tries to impact the integrity of our elections ... we need to take action. And we will — at a time and place of our own choosing. Some of it may be explicit and publicized; some of it may not be."
This interview followed an announcement from the White House that the President will be holding a press conference today at 2:15 EST. Will it be his usual end-of-year-Merry-Christmas press conference? Or will there be more?
As the CNN panel discussed his announcement, Kayleigh McEnany had to bring forth with her uninformed silliness about how Obama came into office wanting to make nice with Russia, and now he's criticizing Her Hero for it.
Van Jones politely but firmly explained why she doesn't understand diplomacy. He had to explain it to her like she was a third-grader, but it did keep her quiet.
"There was a time when the bigger threat was from Iran and the concern that Iran was going to get nuclear weapons," he explained. "So Hillary Clinton in her brilliance was able to pulll together both the Chinese, not our friends every day, and the Russians, not our friends any day, in an alliance to deal with Iran."
"You have to pick. You have to have consequences. "But at no point do I believe that we said, 'Well, geez, we're going to now say that you can attack our country, you can hack our infrastructure, you can mess with our elections, and that's okay, too.'"
When Jones was done, Paul Begala jumped in. Kayleigh didn't say much after that. Perhaps she is feeling some ambivalence toward Her Leader?
