Thompson Twins -- Lies
I hope you're all happily stuffed with turkey and cranberry sauce. I spent the holiday with my sisters and their families. My five year-old nephew has this typically age-appropriate habit of denying that he's done something that everyone knows he's done. And all it takes is for my sister to say, "Look me in the eyes..." and he very adorably melts and admits that he's the guilty party. I watched that silly little ritual several times over the holiday. It's amazing what a five year-old will do to get sweets.
But it occurred to me that I would give anything to see this ritual play out on Sunday news shows. We know we'll see Kellyanne Conway attempt to spew her lies. But wouldn't it be fantastic to see George Stephanopoulos raise an eyebrow and say, "Kellyanne, look me in the eye...." and then she 'fesses up about how nothing she says is truthful or real or of intrinsic moral value.
Wouldn't that be great??? Certainly, it will be completely different from what we really will get. Personally, I'd rather watch my nephew.
