We knew this would happen. We knew that our corporate media would immediately make a shift into normalization mode, where Trump is just another politician who ran a nasty campaign and will now "heal the nation."
We also know this is all nonsense, but Stephanopoulis was particularly odious about his efforts to normalize a fascist.
Apparently ABC News sent some of their very stellar pollsters into the field to ask people to describe their feelings in one word. Those very same pollsters who couldn't manage to figure out what was going on before the election.
"And looking to the future, the words uncertain and scared near the top but hopeful and optimistic prevail," Stephanopoulis eagerly explained. "And beneath the division one sign of civility, 73 percent of Americans have a close friend or family member who voted for an opposing candidate."
Please spare us. Most of us are trying to figure out how we're going to get through the holidays with crazy Uncle Liberty gloating at the table. And that is nothing compared to the bullying and fear that our Latino, African-American, Muslim and Jewish friends are enduring right now.
But media will keep trying to turn Trump into some kind of regular politician who didn't just win an election by threatening to turn 20 million Americans out of healthcare, building a deportation force to send millions of immigrants back to their countries, and more.
Because so many are hopeful, don't you know? Maybe he should have reminded them of what exactly they are hoping for. I guarantee you it's not jobs. It's a return to the supremacy of white men and a loss of equality for the rest of us.
This is yet another reminder that we have to defund corporate media by refusing to watch. We clipped this as evidence of their malfeasance, specifically so you wouldn't have to look for it.
They all must pay a price for lying to us this way.
