Sen. John McCain told president-elect Trump at the Halifax International Security Forum that he didn't care what Trump says, America will not torture and if they did he'd have them in court in a "New York minute."
Senator McCain outlined all the laws and treaties that make torture illegal and said, "If they started waterboarding, I swear to you there's a whole bunch of us that would have them in court in a New York minute.
McCain said, "And there's no judge in America that wouldn't say they they're in violation of the law because it's specifically in law now that prohibitive."
He continued, "I don't give a damn what the president wants to do or anybody else wants to do. We will not waterboard. We will not torture people."
There's a cadre of despicable Trump surrogates on TV and they wax poetic how Trump only wants to keep us safe and waterboarding isn't really torture.
Oh, and I'd wager they'd argue that since the guillotine cuts heads off so quickly, that wouldn't be torture either.
It's a shame that the country took ten steps backwards and now, once gain, torture has become a topic top debate.
