As I watched the pool camera of the meeting between Donald Trump and President Obama, I was struck by how surprised CNN's reporters appeared to be, that Trump didn't go all birther on the president.
As a progressive, it's tough to watch Donald as the president-elect, but now the media will try to normalize the type of man and the character he's shown since he ran for the Oval Office.
CNN said, "So right there, right off the bat, Donald Trump's first meeting in the White House with President Obama, an office he will occupy in short order, exercised restraint."
Scream it from the top of your lungs. Trump exercised restraint!!!!
And then came the next bit of historic news, "I think that is fascinating, but just to underline there. Donald Trump saying during these comments he has respect for the President, he will seek council from the President when he is President of the United States."
TRUMP SAID HE HAS RESPECT FOR OBAMA!
As odious as Trump is, he's not going to puke all over his first visit with our sitting president.
Wolf Blitzer followed up by saying, "And we just heard from that pool report, Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, will express his respect for the President and called him a very fine man."
That's how low Trump sunk throughout the presidential campaign. It's news that Trump acted civilized to the President of the United States while visiting the White House.
Trump said, "We had never met each other. I have great respect, the meeting lasted for almost an hour and a half and it could have, as far as I'm concerned it could have gone on for a lot longer.
He continued, "Mr. President, it was a great honor being with you it and I look forward to being with you many more times in the future. A very good man."
You can expect more from the Beltway press trying to normalize Trump and tell us how he's being sensitive, patient, restrained and not lashing out, unless of course you criticize him, then watch out.
