How gullible do you think Trump voters are now, huh?
Donald Trump with his usual lack of subtlety has decided that rather than pushing the talking point that "Mexico will pay for the wall," he will hedge his bets by saying "Mexico will pay us back for the wall."
With interest, Donald? Are we going to have to sue them to get them to pay? How is that going to work out? Are we going to have to go to the Hague? Will you be able to get back to New York in time to sleep in your own bed? What if, as is YOUR habit, Mexico decides that maybe they'll pay us "one centavo on the dollar."
And what if the courts decide that, since Mexico never signed a contract or treaty to build anything, Mexico doesn't have to pay at all? This wall is going to cost a lot of money. A real lot of money. BBC:
Mr Trump claims the total cost of the wall will be $10 billion to $12 billion. But estimates from fact checkers and engineers seem to be universally higher.
The 650 miles of fencing already put up has cost the government more than $7 billion, and none of it could be described, even charitably, as impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, or beautiful.
A study by the Washington Post estimated the cost of Mr Trump's wall would be closer to $25 billion.
Trump plans do not include any input from the Army Corps of Engineers, Environmental concerns, or American landowners along the border.
Given Trump's penchant for suing or threatening to sue everyone in conflict with him, I guess we can look forward to a lawsuit against Mexico -- once the American taxpayer has forked over 25 million billion dollars for a fence that doesn't keep out anyone arriving by airplane, boat, or student visa.
