The Trump train is going off the rails. Witness surrogate Dr. Ben Carson.
Today's Morning Joe interview was a departure from his usual soporific manner. He actually stayed awake for the whole segment.
The main problem was that, like most Trump surrogates, he wouldn't answer a question. And when things got heated, he asked that a female panelist's mic be cut off. No, really!
KATTY KAY: That's the reason women who have been sexually abused don't come forward.all too often they are called liars. Are you saying that these women are lying?
BEN CARSON: That's your characterization because you need to characterize it that way to make me the bad guy. *Crosstalk* No no no stop stop stop Hey can you turn her microphone off please so I can talk?
JOE SCAR: It's a simple question.
Carson attempted to deflect, but it was the worst evasion of a question I've ever heard
It doesn't matter that they're lying or not, what matters is that the train is going off the cliff and we're taking our eye off of that and we're getting involved in other issues that can be taken care of later.
He went on a diatribe about Judeo-Christian values. "The train left the station" is his metaphor that Trump is the last hope for this country.
When Kay continued to hold her ground, Carson actually said, 'Do you guys have a plug please?' He was trying to mansplain that these sexual assault accusers are just not important.
Way to get the women on your side, Stabby Ben!
SCARBOROUGH: Are they not relevant?(the women's accusations)
When Katty Kay reminded Carson that 50% of the electorate are women, he talked about jobs and the economy. He had to get in the derogatory use of 'Democrat' as per usual. Utterly flustered, he said,
It's not Republican or Democrat issues...get it through your thick skulls.
Joe informed him that his skull is not that thick, which had to have made a few folks on set giggle. Joe called his bluff and demanded he stop the evasive behavior.
Then Ben called everyone "You People" in the media and that incensed Joe.
SCARBOROUGH: Why can’t you just give a straight answer?
When 'you people' makes its appearance in an argument, it's obvious who is losing the argument.
During the segment, we hear a rare truth from Morning Joe himself. When Carson asked if his network was unbiased, Scarborough admitted that NO networks are unbiased.
He's got that right.
Joe was upset that Carson thought he was in the tank for Hillary. Most viewers know he spent the entire primary season giving free coverage to Trump with regular phone-in interviews.
Can it get any worse for the Party of Lincoln with Trump as the nominee? Well Joe Scarborough, it's your party. You built this.
