Ted Cruz called on everyone at the RNC to vote their consciences as he dropped the mic and strode off the stage, but now he wants everyone to know he was just kidding about that whole conscience thing.

In a post on Facebook published earlier today, Cruz came to terms with Reince Preibus' threat to bring consequences down on him and agreed to vote for Donald Trump.

This election is unlike any other in our nation’s history. Like many other voters, I have struggled to determine the right course of action in this general election.

In Cleveland, I urged voters, “please, don’t stay home in November. Stand, and speak, and vote your conscience, vote for candidates up and down the ticket whom you trust to defend our freedom and to be faithful to the Constitution.”

After many months of careful consideration, of prayer and searching my own conscience, I have decided that on Election Day, I will vote for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.

I’ve made this decision for two reasons. First, last year, I promised to support the Republican nominee. And I intend to keep my word.

Second, even though I have had areas of significant disagreement with our nominee, by any measure Hillary Clinton is wholly unacceptable — that’s why I have always been #NeverHillary.

He goes on to name six policy reasons. But only one matters, and that's the Supreme Court. The other reasons are just bogus nonsense to cover up the fact that he's willing to sacrifice his pride and any credibility he may have had with some voters in order to suck up to the Republican Party establishment he repudiated so fiercely during the primaries.

With Cruz's cave, the only remaining primary candidate who has not endorsed Donald Trump is John Kasich, and I'm guessing hell will freeze over before that happens. But then again, you just never know. Republicans are famous for falling in line always.
