Rep. Steve King from Iowa told Newsmax TV that Colin Kaepernick's support of Black Lives Matter is "undermining patriotism" and that his "activism is sympathetic to ISIS."
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's protest against law enforcement is creating a lot of insane thoughts and responses from politicians and former athletes alike, but nobody has figured ISIS to be in play here, except for Rep. King.
It's perfectly fine to agree or disagree with Kaepernick's methods, but you can't take vengeance on him because of it. We are not in a Chan-wook Park movie.
In the interview with host Steve Malzberg, Rep. King said, "I just think of it if somebody is working for me and they represent me, that's the name scenario, legal scenario that they have on a football team."
Rep. King then instructed us on how he puts the fear of God into his own employees and if they don't adhere to his political philosophy or religious beliefs, they will be fired.
This is illegal, Steve. And it's against the Constitution, if you've ever come upon it.
The idea that this neanderthal has become an important person in Iowa and national politics is the finest example of how insane the GOP has become since Barack Obama became president.
He continued, "If somebody went out there and said, 'In my spare time I'm going to promote abortion and same-sex marriage and eroding the Constitution of the United States and promote socialism,' they'd be gone in the first minute they opened their mouth on that. I would fire them and they all know that."
Refusing to stand up or kneeling down for the National Anthem is equivalent to eroding the Constitution?
Rep. King then said, "I think Colin Kaepernick is representing the San Francisco 49ers when he puts on that uniform, when he sets out on the stage, the world stage. He's taking advantage of that and he's undermining patriotism."
Actually, Kaepernick is strengthening the Constitution and empowering patriotism to a country that allows for freedom of expression, you moron.
Then he turned his ire to what really is bugging him - his girlfriend Nessa.
"I understand that he has an Islamic girlfriend that is his fiancée and that this has changed him, has taken on some different political views along the way, this is activism that is sympathetic to ISIS."
“For me, if I’m the coach, I would say, ‘You’re done. Until you take a knee and beg forgiveness from the American people, you’re not going to set foot out on this field again.’
Again, this is illegal.
And being Islamic does not automatically make a person a member of ISIS.
