President Obama toured flood-ravaged areas of Louisiana and Baton Rouge this morning as he promised he would last week when the right wing and corporate media were ginning up outrage that he didn't drop everything, terminate his vacation, and head there right away so he could gum up relief efforts like Donald Trump did.

"Once flood waters pass, people's attention spans pass," the president said. "This is not a one-off. This is not a photo-op issue."

"This is how do you make sure a month from now, three months from now, six months from now, people are still getting the help that they need," he continued.

"I need all Americans to stay focused on this. If you're watching this today, make sure you find out how you can help. Go to volunteers.louisiana.gov or you can go to fema.gov or you can go to WhiteHouse.gov and we'll direct you to how you can help."

Here is a pretty comprehensive list of ways to help, for any who read this and can do so.

That's how it's done. Not Play-Doh and diapers. Actually waiting for the first responders to take a breath, sending in help and supplies early, and making the visit when things calm down.

Take a lesson, Mr. Trump. You too, media.
