Donald Trump's campaign of insanity has hit yet another crazy patch this week with the newly published New York Times article linking his campaign manager, Paul Manafort, to a pro-Russian political party. Whoops.
This article sheds even more light on the incredibly dangerous relationship Trump has pursued with Russia and Comrade Putin. In response to the incredible amount of shock and disgust from both sides of the aisle, Trump decided to shake things up. Who did he bring in? Heavy political hitters? Well-respected folks who can bring some stability and knowledge to his campaign?
Nah. He brings in the alt-right media poster boy, Steve Bannon. This is in addition to the other recent revelation that he is taking advice from the disgraced former head of Fox News, Roger Ailes. Fantastic.
The media has been all over this, speculating that this may not actually be about politics at all, but rather about something related to Trump's plans for after the election when he loses, bigly. Brian Stelter speculated about it on Anderson Cooper's show Wednesday night:
BRIAN STELTER: Steve Bannon is coming over from media. What media and politics have in common is it's all about aggregating the biggest possible audience. That's what Trump's trying to do, that's what CNN tries to do. Well, what if Trump loses? Think about who he has on his team now. Steve Bannon, Roger Ailes informally, Roger Stone, the confidante who's known for his dirty tricks. He has all the right people to put in place a new media company, whether it's a television network or on Facebook or something we can't picture yet. I think we have to at least consider that possibility even if Trump would never acknowledge that's real today.
